Ang Thong Marine Park

A string of beautiful islands made up of uninhabited beaches, caves and lagoons - this National Marine Park gets its name from one such lagoon - 'Ang Thong' means 'Golden Basin' in Thai.

Located in the Gulf of Thailand between the mainland and the islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, Ang Thong consisting of 42 islands and is part of the Samui archipelago. The marine park itself covers 84sq km, with the islands only amassing to 18 sq km.

Most of the islands are sheer limestone masses reaching heights of up to 400m (1313t) above sea level, fringed by pristine beaches and tropical rainforest. This protected environment creates a safe habitat for many mammals, reptiles and birds. Throughout this region you can explore sheer limestone rock formations as dramatic as anything in Phang-Nga Bay, trek to breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the entire archipelago, visit aquamarine lagoons and inland lakes, and discover your own deserted island for swimming, snorkeling and that ideal overnight anchorage.
